Persian maille
The origin of the Persian family of maille weaves is a mystery. Contemporary maille cyber-lore often suggests that Persian weaves were once worn exclusively by Persian royalty. But the oldest maille artifacts from the Middle East appear to employ forms of Japanese or European weaves. Some believe that this family of weaves is called “Persian,” because they resemble ornate Persian decorative patterns. Whatever their origin, the Persian family of maille weaves is thriving. The cylindrical Persian Six-In-One or Full Persian chain and the variously-shaped Half-Persian weaves are those most often seen.
