about the artist

Anne M. Kelly is a writer, artist, and jewellery designer. She was born in New Orleans, but the West Coast of Canada has been her home since 1967. She has a degree in Creative Writing from the University of Victoria, where she was awarded the Victoria Medal for achievement in Fine Arts.

In the 1990’s a car accident changed her life. Following several years of rehabilitation and adaptation, she combined her distinctive style of graphic design with a love of fashion and natural history to create her first collection of jewellery. She employs ancient and contemporary techniques of forming, weaving, and texturing metal.

Anne M. Kelly’s work has been featured in productions such as Suddenly Dance Theatre’s, Enter Exit and Angel Bones; in numerous literary periodicals and anthologies; and in Gravity and Light, a book co-authored with poets Margaret Blackwood and Kerry Slavens. She is a contributor to Chain Mail Jewelry: Contemporary Designs from Classic Techniques, published by Lark Books.
